Maranatha Students
Present “Easter in Stereo”
The students of Maranatha Christian
Academy presented their first annual Easter program,
“Easter in Stereo,” on March 31st at Heartland Baptist
Church in Ames. The program was directed by Maranatha
parent Jodie Held and presented the last week in the life
of Jesus Christ through a combined account from all four
gospels. Students alternated in groups of two and three
reading the Scriptures. Hymns and songs performed by all
the students intertwined the reading of the Scriptures. In
six acts the students read the accounts of The Last Supper,
Gethsemane, the Arrest and Trial of Christ, the Crucifixion
and Burial, the Resurrection, and the Appearances and
Ascension. The program also featured a violin duet by
Maranatha student Timothy Loe and teacher Jennifer
Anderson.
Following the presentation of “Easter in Stereo” the
Maranatha speech class drama team presented a skit entitled
“No One Understands.” Students Drew Reis, Lauren Stuart,
and Brandon Windus portrayed people who thought no one
understood the problems they were facing and student Ian
Nichols portrayed Jesus Christ who assured them that he
understands all the problems and trials that people face on
earth. The evening closed with a message from Maranatha
teacher Joel Newman that followed the theme of the skit.
Following the program a reception was held in the
fellowship hall of the church. An open house was also part
of the evening activities which provided an opportunity for
guests to learn more about Maranatha Christian Academy.
Video from the recently completed basketball season was
also available for viewing.
