Maranatha Dominant in 84-23 Win
Seniors Ian Nichols, Taylor Adolphson, and Zach Miller
spearheaded Maranatha Christian Academy’s boys basketball
team to a record point total in a weekend matchup with
Countryside Classics. The seniors combined for a total of
55 points in a game which was lopsided from the beginning.
Maranatha ran out to a 10-3 early lead and never looked
back, going ahead by nearly 30 at halftime, and adding the
their lead as the game progressed. Maranatha’s previous
game high point total was 60. Every player who suited up
for the game saw action and scored.
Maranatha dominated in every area of the game. Leading
scorers were Ian Nichols with 24 points, Taylor Adolphson
with 22, and Quentin Hoffman with 13. Adding to Maranatha’s
total were Zach Miller with 9 points, Matt Bruce and
Emerson Hoffman with 6 each, and JD Abell with 4. Leading
rebounders were Zach Miller with 20, Taylor Adolphson with
13, and Ian Nichols with 10.
Girls Debut Ends in Eight Point Loss
Maranatha’s girls team debuted in their first game prior to
the boys game. The girls dropped a close 23-15 game to the
Countryside Classics JV team. Although Maranatha trailed by
10 at halftime, they began to narrow the gap in the second
half, but foul trouble plagued the Lady Mustangs and two
starters fouled out early in the 4th period. The game was
the first of three contests between Countryside and
Maranantha’s girls team scheduled for this season.
Leading the scoring for Maranatha were Kayley Bruce, Hannah
Nichols, and Randi Jo Gorman with 5 points each. Hannah
Nichols was the leading rebounder.
